Behind many of the catered events at California Baptist University is Catering Chef Rietz Seifert, whose passion for food and commitment to her team help shape memorable events across campus. Through creativity, preparation and a hands on leadership style, she plays an important role in bringing Provider’s catering services to life each day.
A passion for creativity continues to shape Seifert’s approach in the kitchen. Her early experiences in a small, family-run eatery in the Philippines immersed her in the fast-paced rhythm of food service while instilling a deep appreciation for thoughtful, care-driven cooking.
“I’ve always enjoyed learning from the people around me and finding ways to create new dishes, being able to bring my own ideas into the kitchen and continue improving is what keeps me motivated.”
Over the course of her culinary career, Seifert has developed a leadership style centered on consistency, patience and teamwork. She believes creating a positive environment allows individuals to build confidence while strengthening overall kitchen operations. “I encourage my team to stay focused on learning, support one another and understand that mistakes can be part of growth.”
Her experiences have helped shape her perspective on resilience and personal development. While catering operations can be dynamic, Seifert said staying connected to her passion for cooking continues to fuel her. “Working hard, learning from feedback and continuing to grow are all part of the journey.”
For Seifert, cooking is about more than preparing meals, it’s about creating moments that linger long after the plate is cleared. From the earliest stages of planning to the final presentation, she takes pride in bringing her ideas to life through food. She hopes to inspire more women to explore the culinary field and discover their own sense of purpose in crafting experiences that bring people together.
